“I tend to use a 6mm chisel for everything

using it to draw lines into the stone, helping to reveal and accentuate the form”

Andrew started stone and wood carving aged 16 in 1981 as an Apprentice with Rattee & Kett in Cambridge

“To become a master carver not only requires a raw natural talent and many years of practise, but above all the ability to develop these artistic skills using a variety of materials to recreate the various architectural styles used throughout the ages. Through his unique training and involvement with some of the most prestigious restoration projects and demanding new commissions, Andrew Tanser has reached the pinnacle of his craft and now ranks as one of the leading carvers and sculptors in the country.”
